Outdoor ice rinks seem to be popping up all over the place now as the soon as the official run-up to Christmas starts and we always think it looks great fun, which is why we were very pleased when we were contacted by the team behind the latest local outdoor ice rink to ask Hog Roast Broadstairs to provide the catering for their opening night!
As the final preparations were underway ready for the rink to be up and running and welcome skaters that evening, the Hog Roast Broadstairs team were just as busy on the side lines preparing some of our melt-in-the-mouth slow roasted pork and homemade apple sauce, ready to be served alongside some locally-sourced seasonal veg and buttery new potatoes. What better way to warm up and refuel after exerting yourself on the ice!
When evening came, the lights went on, the music tuned up and the irresistible smell of our slow-roasted pork filled the air! There was already an eager queue waiting for the opportunity to don their skates and bust some moves on the ice and when the barriers went up, half of the queue made for the ice rink and the other half made straight for our serving table!
Before too long everyone was either tucking in or whizzing around the ice (some more confidently than others!) and the atmosphere was electric. We always love being in the thick of the action when everyone is enjoying themselves and making people’s experience even more enjoyable with our hearty, high quality grub!
As more and more people arrived to give it a go and try some of our pork, the ice rink team were rushed off their feet, but they all still managed to find the time to snatch a hog roast butty or two themselves! As we are so experienced in catering for public events, we are never phased by the amount of people we need to serve and there is always plenty of meat to go around, even if we are inundated with orders, as we were on this night!
