Hog Roast Canterbury always loves to do a great job, regardless of the occasion we’re catering for you and regardless of its formality. Whether you’re planning an upmarket or casual affair, with only a handful of guests or several hundred, and whether you’re hosting in your own back garden or a stylish hotel, our goal is to feed you and your guests lovely, tasty, homemade food that’ll have you going back for seconds or more.
When Charlene asked us to cater her 40th birthday party at a local pub, she was planning an informal do to celebrate with her family and friends and she wanted it to feature a hog roast centrepiece that we would make into moreish pigs in pins. Having used our catering services on several occasions in the past, including on her wedding day more than ten years ago, Charlene was sure that the guests would once again love to devour one of our amazing hog roasts. We can serve a hog roast in various ways, including a hot meal with vegetables and potatoes, all smothered in homemade gravy, but one of the most popular ways is as pigs in buns, Charlene’s choice this time, where we cram bits of tender meat and crispy crackling into soft bread rolls and then top with our own recipe apple sauce and stuffing.
On the day of the milestone birthday party, our Hog Roast Canterbury team members arrived at the pub venue a few hours before the 3pm service. We put together our gazebo and serving station and before long we were roasting the hog in one of our own machines, watching over it as it sizzled away in its own juices. Later on that day, we busied ourselves with dishing up our apple sauce and sage and onion stuffing, arranging the condiments and napkins and slicing the array of bread rolls. We had also brought along plenty of wraps as well.
By 3pm, the pig was resting, waiting to be carved up, and the guests were queuing up for some hog roast theatre and, of course, some delicious Hog Roast Canterbury food.
