Just yesterday, I had a ball catering a 12th birthday celebration that had a football theme. These days, it seems that more and more younger people are asking their parents for a hog or spitroast party, which is what soccer-mad Lennie did recently when his parents asked what food catering he’d like for his special day. At this time of year, we offer the winter warmer menu in addition to our regular menus (and we have a lot of regular menus, too, and we can even help you create a bespoke one). Lennie thought that a winter warmer hog roast Broadstairs would be the ideal food to serve at his November party, as while him and his friends were taking a break from their football games, they could stay warm with our lovely, hot pork and vegetables.
We arrived at the family home in the morning to start cooking a few hours before the winter warmer lunch would be served. While we set up the gazebo, serving station and hog roast machine, Lennie’s parents started to decorate the large back garden with everything soccer as well as putting up goalposts for the matches. Soon, we had the 30kg pig slow-roasting and beginning to fill the air around us with sweet, meaty, aromas.
A couple of hours later and it was time to freshly prepare the parsnips, carrots and green beans and start to roast them in a tray underneath the hog roast Broadstairs. We were also asked to cook some baking potatoes, so they were added to the machine, too. So that was a scrumptious hog, a tray of veggies and potatoes and some baked potatoes all cooking away together. Our machines are so versatile!
A short time later and the vegetables and potatoes were all looking lovely and we had the gorgeous pig resting. Its insides were so juicy that it makes my mouth water just thinking about it now and the skin had turned into perfect, crunchy, crackling. Lennie and his friends took a break from their soccer games to enjoy a feast with his family members, and everyone congratulated us on the best birthday food ever!
