When Stephanie approached Hog Roast Denstroude back in October to discuss catering options for her annual staff Christmas party, little did we know that we were about to embark on an adventure infused with mystery and merriment! As the organiser behind this year’s festivities, Stephanie envisioned a celebration that would be cemented in the memories of her 45 staff forever, and thus, the quirky concept of a ‘Merry Murder Mystery’ night was born.
Fast forward to Saturday night. The enchanting backdrop of a country manor house set the scene for a night of suspense and intrigue. The venue had been transformed into a Christmas grotto, adorned with festive decorations, oversized candy cane props, and an air of anticipation that promised an unforgettable whodunnit affair. Further adding to the celebrations, a mixologist behind the bar stirred up festive-themed drinks.
Catering manager Matt and the team at Hog Roast Denstroude took charge of the catering, presenting the group with a feast fit for the occasion. The aptly named festive menu showcased a show-stopping hog roast, complete with crackling, sage and onion stuffing, applesauce, and gluten-free rolls and wraps. The sides, featuring cauliflower cheese, pigs in blankets, roasties, glazed vegetables, and the richest, smoothest gravy imaginable, introduced a delightful blend of flavours. And, for the veggie and vegan guests, BBQ-pulled jackfruit rolls with crunchy ‘slaw offered a delectable alternative.
After indulging in this sensational spread, the staff split off into groups to unravel the mystery of ‘who killed Santa Claus.’ It was a night filled with laughter, investigation, and detective work, with the winning team earning a coveted prize. Everyone, regardless of their detective skills, was rewarded with Hog Roast Denstroude’s homemade mince pies accompanied by brandy cream, and a specially crafted cocktail to cap off the evening.
In the end, Stephanie’s vision came to life as her staff revelled in the unique blend of gastronomic excellence and immersive entertainment. The Merry Murder Mystery night proved to be a resounding success, leaving everyone with a taste for adventure and a belly full of delicious memories.
Hog Roast Denstroude had not just catered a party; we had crafted an experience that transcended the ordinary, ensuring that Stephanie’s Christmas celebration would be talked about for years to come.
