After recently stumbling across our website, Sarah got in touch with the team at Hog Roast Ashford to discuss menu options for an upcoming christening she was planning. Having been in the business for years, our expert catering manager Jake was more than happy to talk her through the varied options we have on offer which suit all event styles and budgets, and finally it was decided that a formal alfresco menu with real crockery and cutlery would be the best fit for Sarah’s event.
When the special day arrived, all fifty guests made their way to the idyllic setting of Gusbourne Estate, a traditional English vineyard nestled in the small village of Appledore where the Hog Roast Ashford team were already waiting.
Under the scorching sun, Jake and the team had set up their gazebos, as well as a white marquee for the guests which housed a collection of wooden picnic tables and benches. Using our Hogmaster Pro, the team effortlessly cooked the main attraction – a slow roasted pig served with apple sauce stuffing and perfectly crispy crackling before getting started on the locally-sourced free-range chicken served with chipolata sausage, stuffing and homemade onion gravy, sirloin of roast beef with horseradish sauce, Yorkshire puddings and homemade red wine gravy and finally, rosemary seasoned spring lamb with mint and a mustard and dill sauce. For non-meat-eaters, the team served up grilled vegetable and haloumi skewers which were paired with gluten-free rolls and our inclusive side dishes of the day.
Sarah was very impressed when the catering crew presented her with the buffet of succulent, slow-roasted meats, steamed seasonal vegetables, fluffy potatoes and a trio of colourful salads which all went down a treat with her guests – many of whom returned to the gazebos for second (and third!) helpings! With stunning views and delicious food for the guests to enjoy, everyone remained in high spirits as the day drew to a close, and we’ve recently heard back from Sarah who wanted to thank Jake and the Hog Roast Ashford team again for taking the stresses of cooking, serving and tidying up off her hands which allowed her to relax and enjoy the day as well.
