Festive Birthday Meal – Hog Roast Conyer

Now that December has arrived, everyone’s thoughts have turned to Christmas of course, whether that’s thinking about how many more presents are left to buy, whether or not to get a real tree this year or not, or which catering service to use to book your Christmas party. It’s not just workplaces that have Christmas parties these days; more and more people are throwing parties to celebrate ‘the most wonderful time of the year’ even without combining it with a birthday, wedding or engagement. However, for Paul, a customer we’ve known for many years, his Christmas-themed party this year would be to celebrate his 60th birthday and he had chosen to celebrate with a hog roast Conyer!

Paul often hires our roasting machines so he can DIY a hog roast or he asks us to cater his parties with a hog roast Conyer but for this special birthday, he wanted us to cook a bird for him and his guests. Our fabulous festive menu includes a traditional turkey that we spit roast until lovely and brown on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside. We cook your choice of vegetables and potatoes, add some all-important trimmings including stuffing, cranberry sauce, and gravy, and voilĂ  – a feast fit for a king (and with Paul’s surname being King, this was more than apt!)

The birthday boy had invited 25 guests of friends and family members, one a vegan and one needing a gluten-free option. Luckily for the latter guest, all of the main course of meat, veg, potatoes, and trimmings would be suitable anyway. We do provide mince pies with this menu that are not gluten-free but we could take along some that would be suitable as well. For the vegan option, Paul asked us to cook a vegetable burger to enjoy alongside the potatoes and vegetables, and our chefs could easily whip one up.

On the day of the party, our team went along to Paul’s home to roast a turkey from scratch and prepare and cook lots of garden-fresh veg and potatoes. Before we knew it, after keeping an eye on all of the hot food for a few short hours, it was time to dish up the stuffing, sauces, and gravy and let the queues begin with people eager for a taste of the hog roast Conyer.
