Picture this, you’ve just turned 60 years young, the sun is shining (winning the battle against typical British weather) and you are celebrating with a Hog Roast Canterbury barbeque – for Julie, the fantasy was a reality!
Back in May, we were lucky to catch some mid spring heat; the perfect weather for birthday celebrations. And with 80 guests to feed, we were dealing with a big menu – to ensure that everyone at Julie’s 60th Birthday party had full bellies, and happy smiles all day long.
This celebration welcomed Hog Roast Canterbury’s Gourmet BBQ menu. This includes meaty burgers and steaming sausages, succulent, grilled chicken kebabs with a savoury Thai flavour and barbequed pork ribs. And a vegan selection, including grilled vegetable and Haloumi skewers and an alternative herby vegetarian sausage. There were gluten free, soft white and seeded roles to encase the sizzling barbeque treats of your choice. And to freshen up the palette, a leafy mixed salad and a fresh coleslaw with thinly sliced cabbage, carrots and onions to add a touch of tanginess to your bite. And of course, you can’t have a barbecue without fries! Guests had the choice of sweet potato or traditional fries to top off their already top-notch meals.
Moreover, our team at Hog Roast Canterbury would never compromise on presentation. Each meal was served on wooden bamboo crockery and cutlery which fit right into the natural, green landscape of the beautiful yet cozy farm venue.
And with a serving time of 3pm, guests could enjoy their delicious barbecue at the peak time where the sun shines extra bright, illuminating the farm grounds and highlighting it’s already outstanding atmosphere.
It was a party well celebrated, with everyone’s bellies full and a smile spread across each guest’s face (just as we had hoped) and most importantly Julie, our birthday girl who got to spend her 60th with great weather, great company and great food.
It was a lovely opportunity to get to know Julie and all her family and friends, we hope to see each of you all again at the 70th!
