If you’ve had a look on our websites, you may have seen our different catering menus for private parties, weddings, Christmas events and corporate hospitality. However, we are always happy for you to create your own bespoke menu for your celebration or event and we can help you to create it if you need, too. For George’s 70th birthday party that we did over the weekend, we helped his wife Ellen to create the perfect menu for his special day.
Ellen came in to see us several months ago to ask if we could cater for her husband’s small party this summer. We showed her our various menus but she was particularly interested in creating her own that would suit her husband’s party perfectly. George is a retired pig farmer, having raised and bred domestic pigs in this country all his working life, so Ellen thought it was fitting that a hog roast in New Romney was the centre of attention for this celebration. The informal party was being held in their lovely back garden for close friends and family, and Ellen was worried about the fact that some of the guests had food allergies or intolerances. We can always help you with dietary requirements if we know in advance, so that really wasn’t a problem at all and we put Ellen’s mind at ease.
For this party, as well as the hog roast with bread rolls, stuffing and sauces, we needed a gluten-free option and a vegetarian option. While the gluten-free guests could enjoy the hog roast, our special stuffing and apple sauce as they are already all suitable, we could provide special bread rolls so they could enjoy ‘pigs in buns’ like the other guests. For the vegetarian guests, we suggested our lovely homemade Spanish quiche. Plus most of the condiments we provide are already suitable for both gluten-free guests and vegetarians, too.
Happy that the food would be perfect for the party, Ellen booked us in and we turned up on Sunday afternoon with a small pig, ready to roast for a few short hours, as well as the gluten-free and vegetarian food. George enjoyed the hog roast in New Romney so much that he’s booked us in for Ellen’s birthday party already!
