The Perfect Crackling In Eastry

It’s that time of year again the nights getting darker and the cold nip in the air that comes with September we all want nice hearty food and comforting food and we offer both of that with sophistication added too! Hog Roast were catering for a lovely cosy event at the weekend a small family get together for friends who had all worked together and were now going there separate ways a group of teaching students and they had hired the church hall to host the event. Hog Roast hire had been looking forward to this event as we had just invested with a fantastic state of the art super hog roasting machine and we were keen to try it out! We were making pork and cracking with creamed mashed potatoes, savoy cabbage, green beans and peas and thick earthy gravy too lovely delicious food and we couldn’t wait to get started. We placed the pig on the machine and it really did us proud the machine was so room the meat had lots of space to cook as the meat cooked away we got on with the vegetables and we make everything fresh from scratch on the day so as you can imagine peeling the vegetables isn’t the nicest of jobs but still one that has to be done. We then set about dressing the huge table we always like to make sure everything is ever so we always make sure attention to detail is made in every single table arrangement as this is just as important as the food first impressions truly do last! When the pig was just about done we scored the skin and added lots of lovely oil and rock salt and within no time the skin was starting to crackle and the perfect crackling beginning to form. As the guests took their seats we carved the meat and crackling added heaps of lovely fresh vegetables and offered huge pots of delicious gravy all were happy as they tucked into the food and the out side did look cold as we looked out of the windows such satisfaction cooking nice warm hearty food and double special using our fantastic machine!
