When you hit some of the milestone ages it is always worth putting a little more into your birthday celebrations. Last week Hog Roast Dover were delighted to join David Hansworth for his 60th celebrations as he looked to lay down a marker with a unique approach to his birthday dining!
In discussions between David, his wife, and the Hog Roast Dover team, we came to an agreement that we were going to really put it all out there for what was assured to be a massive birthday bash. Some of this may have come down to David not being sure which choice of roast or barbecue to go with in our birthday catering, so instead he opted for a special menu where guests could really try just about all of them, if they wanted. We dubbed this menu the “Six Dishes for a Sixtieth” on account of David opting to have us serve six different types of mains for a massive buffet feast at his party. This way, guests (or, as it turns out, David) could get a taste of the many delicious offerings that Hog Roast Dover has in our repertoire. Truthfully, we can’t really blame David for wanting a little bit of everything. If it was feasible and more affordable, we’d honestly love to serve everything all the time for every event we cater for!
To cook six main dishes may look like a big challenge for our chefs, but we at Hog Roast Dover are blessed to have an approach to catering that allows us to cook big dishes in bulk without a loss of quality. For one, our signature hog roast is always going to be able to feed even 100 guests if we go with a bigger pig. This was dish number one, on account of being the Hog Roast Dover signature. With a second roasting machine we were able to also cook a beef roast and have our rotisserie cooker going to also perfectly cook a whole rotisserie chicken. Dishes two and three. Four and 5 were our veggie options of BBQ pulled jackfruit and our veg and halloumi skewers. And, finally, 6 was our grilled gourmet burgers which could also be cooked on top of the same roaster carrying our hog roast. Six dishes, all cooked efficiently and in style for the best sixtieth party around!
