At Hog Roast Kent we love planning out catering for a birthday celebration. It is the kind of event that is truly just all about celebrating for celebration’s sake, where friends and family are all there just for you.
But what we have come to love even more is getting into the covert planning of a surprise birthday party. It makes us feel like secret agents as we work out the best ways to get into a venue without being noticed by the birthday boy/girl. We take on an oath of secrecy and do our best to never blow our cover until the time is right for the surprise. Plus, in our work it is a joy to see a guest’s face light up when they say our renowned hog roast in the flesh; it’s even better when that spectacle is also a total surprise that they are just learning about for the first time.
Over the May Day bank holiday weekend the Hog Roast Kent team were able to put their best 007 Bond skills to the test once more as we came out to cater for the 60th surprise birthday held for our customer’s wife. Having worked out all of the details down to the minute with our customer, head chef Matt had the Hog Roast Kent team well drilled to ensure that the surprise went off just as planned. The result, thankfully, was just perfect!
40 guests along with the Hog Roast Kent team awaited the arrival of our birthday girl. In that time we made sure to get our hog roast cooking and ready to go so that the surprise could be a double whammy: “here’s all your friends and family, and here’s a hot and fresh hog roast ready just for your enjoyment, too!”. We were delighted to be able to share in this moment. Once the initial shock was over, it was right down to serving: our hog roast, crackling, sage and onion stuff, apple sauce, served along with mixed salad, slaw, fresh chips, grilled veg and halloumi skewers, and plenty of gluten-free rolls and wraps.
A perfect birthday celebration, and a certain mission success in the Hog Roast Kent books!
