You may know Hog Roast Ashford as local catering favourites, who can cook a mean hog or spit roast and provide many other food options for your party or event. But did you know that Spitting Pig franchises are actually based all over the UK and that we often venture further afield than our county? Just recently, we catered a party for 80 guests in Essex, in the lovely village of Stanford Rivers. While the venue itself was located on Mutton Row, we were providing hog rather than lamb for this particular event, with our popular Private Party Menu 1 of tasty hog roast rolls.
Our Hog Roast Ashford team arrived at the venue in the afternoon to start cooking the hog, as it takes a few hours to roast and we would be serving the guests in the evening. We start by preparing the meat from scratch on-site and then we slowly roast the hog until golden brown on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside so that the meat falls right off the bone and then melts in your mouth. Before stuffing bread rolls or wraps full of meat, crackling, apple sauce and stuffing, we let the meat rest for a little while before cutting into it.
For this party, Julia asked Hog Roast Ashford to provide a veggie option too, so we cooked vegetable skewers on the day as well. We have plenty of options for any guests with dietary needs, and not just for vegetarians; we also cater for vegans and gluten-free guests and if you have any guests who need something different, always ask us, as with advance notice we can cater for just about any diet, regardless of whether it’s due to an allergy, intolerance or just personal choice.
By 7.30pm, all of the scrumptious food was ready and waiting to be devoured by dozens of hungry guests, so as the queues snaked around the venue, we sliced into the hog and filled trays with slivers of meat and bits of salty crackling. Our pigs in buns went down a storm on this day, with Julia and her guests ensuring that no food went to waste.
