Hog Roast Birchington – Morning Rolls for the East Kent Ploughing Match with Hog Roast Birchington

Hog Roast KentAs a local caterer the Hog Roast Birchington team has always been very thankful for the vast network of local farms and stocks in the UK. We are extremely lucky to have a national farming industry as strong as the UK’s, which we as a caterer tap into every week to have the very best meats, pigs, veg, and ingredients in our stocks. That quality comes back out in every one of our roasts at your own events.

So, then, it was our privilege to be able to do something, no matter how small, back for the farming community in Kent by coming out the morning of the special annual East Kent Ploughing Match to provide attendants and the host staff with a rewarding breakfast, utilising the very pork’s that they have helped to make so great in the UK.

The annual East Kent Ploughing Match is an annual event running for over 80 years now. It’s traditions are steeped in a want to celebrate the agricultural industry of the UK. All those decades back, the match invited working farmers to enter competition in which prizes are awarded for skills in ploughing with tractors, vintage and horses, and also for excellence in crop husbandry. It was also designed to further educate the scores of general public guests about the fundamentals of agriculture as thousands would come out to view the ploughing matches.

That tradition continues to this day with the 30th of September being this year’s annual event date. To ensure everyone involved was well fuelled up for the day ahead, the Hog Roast Birchington team came out to the event site in Birchington to provide a special breakfast service. We had over a hundred guests, so head chef Matt was busy at the grill making fresh bacon and gourmet sausages while our signature hog roast also cooked away through the very early morning. This meant excellent roll options for every guest, including a BBQ pulled jackfruit alternative for any guests with a veggie/vegan diet. With that kind of glorious breakfast in your belly, anyone would have been ready to show off their ploughing skill in a highly competitive match thereafter!

Our thanks to EKPM for choosing Hog Roast Birchington, and for continuing to show why British farming is the very best!Hog Roast Kent
