There are milestone birthdays… and then there are milestone birthdays worth celebrating in style. On Saturday 9th August 2025, Hog Roast Bonnington was delighted to join Isy and her family, to help make her mum’s 80th birthday a truly unforgettable day. With the garden transformed into a relaxed yet elegant venue – complete with a fully stocked bar and wine provided by Isy’s cousin, a wine importer – it was set to be a perfect summer gathering.
Our Catering Manager, Matt, led the team in creating a feast worthy of the occasion, starting with our Alfresco Menu. As guests settled in, our waiting staff served generous Antipasti Platters directly to each table. Rustic wooden boards were piled high with Italian delicacies alongside indulgent cheeses. Artisan breads such as herb focaccia, ciabatta, and breadsticks were served with bowls of extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping, encouraging guests to help themselves and share in true Italian style.
The main course brought a show-stopping whole roasted free-range pig, slow-cooked until the meat was meltingly tender and the crackling perfectly crisp. Our chef carved the pork at the buffet while our team served accompaniments of homemade sage & onion stuffing, apple sauce, freshly baked bread rolls, and gluten-free wraps on request.
At Hog Roast Bonnington, we pride ourselves on making sure every guest is catered for. Vegetarian and vegan guests enjoyed colourful grilled vegetable skewers (with or without halloumi) served with wraps, tzatziki, and sweet chilli sauce, as well as BBQ pulled jackfruit in a bun with crunchy slaw. Fresh seasonal salads – heritage tomato with buffalo mozzarella, mixed leaves, and creamy coleslaw – plus buttery new potatoes rounded off the spread.
To finish, guests were treated to profiteroles filled with cream and delicate vacherins layered with fresh strawberries. It was an afternoon of conversation, laughter, and fine food – exactly what an 80th birthday should be.
