Thanksgiving is a major holiday celebrated by the United States of America and surrounded nations. A holiday originally associated with Pilgrims and Native Americans has come to symbolise intercultural peace and sanctity of home and family. It traditionally takes place on the last Thursday of November however, trying to get family and friends available on that day in England proves difficult!
Taylor Swift… not that one, Hog Roast Sittingbourne also got pretty excited when that name came through, was hosting a thanksgiving meal for her British friends, family and fiancé, the three ‘F’s. She had flown over for work two years ago and had a whirlwind romance with her husband-to-be and is now living over here. Despite liking the UK, there are definitely things she misses about the states, thanksgiving being a BIG one. Since Taylor Swift was living in New York before she moved her life to England, a huge thing she misses is the thanksgiving Macy’s parade, her two sisters and mum would come and join her for the annual event each year. The Macy’s parade involves huge balloons with a new theme each year. This parade originated in 1924 so has been going for ages!
Hog Roast Sittingbourne understood that she was missing her home so ensured that they would the perfect meal to impress Taylor’s favourite people. Taylor was working on a huge Christmas project for her company or would have loved to have cooked the meal herself. Taylor had chosen Hog Roast Sittingbourne’s festive menu… with a twist. Rather than the crisp roast potatoes usually served, she had asked for creamy mash, she had also asked for pumpkin and butternut squash to accompany the usual roasted vegetables such as carrots and swede. Despite a whole-roasted pig was tempting, traditionally at thanksgiving they serve a turkey, so Taylor stuck with that.
Taylor had never tried cauliflower cheese and was absolutely amazed with Hog Roast Sittingbourne’s extremely cheesy delight! Additionally, she was impressed with how moist the turkey was and how tasty for stuffing was. The meal went down a storm with favourite people and herself alike, despite it not being the traditional food Taylor thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
