Over our thirty plus years of catering we at Hog Roast Rochester have learned many valuable lessons. But easily one of the most valuable we have ever come to learn over our many decades of service is this: always have more food for seconds!
As a caterer, we don’t want to be coming away from an event with a lot of food waste, but at the same time our priority is always the comfort and satisfaction of the guests first of all. If that means cooking a little bit more and saddling our hosts with a bunch of delicious leftovers then so be it – and let’s be honest, that’s a perk when it’s leftovers from Hog Roast Rochester!
Our mantra is always that if we think should have more food for an event then we ought to bring it along anyway. In going over the details of an event with a customer we will of course always take into account the number of guests there are well beforehand and strategize our quantities based on that, but we always have to add in the extras of guests wanting to come in for seconds and even thirds. We know that it is more or less a given that guests will want to come to us for seconds. We certainly would! With a hog roast this delicious you always need at least one more bit to be truly satisfied. One pulled pork roll isn’t enough; go and get yourself another one! In the position of the guest, we at Hog Roast Rochester would be doing the exact same thing.
And we are normally fine to handle more portions. Our hog roast alone could feed a hundred guests. Add in all of our freshly made accompaniments and the numbers start to get much higher. That means there will likely always be at least some hog roast left by the end of the night. We encourage guests from the outset not to be shy and to please come back for more if they want it. Otherwise it’ll be going right in the belly of our chefs and servers on the way home, or to our host customer!
